EVE MAP TOOLS
ARGUS compared with Dotlan, EVE-Eye and co.
New Eden has great third-party tools, and ARGUS does not replace all of them. Here is what each is best at – and what ARGUS adds.
Dotlan
The reference for region maps, alliance and sovereignty history, statistics and the classic jump planner. ARGUS reads Dotlan route and jump links and adds what happens right now: live kills, camps and war targets on every jump.
EVE-Eye and other map sites
Strong for exploring the universe, its objects and wormhole space. ARGUS focuses on live intel in known space, routes and capital logistics.
Gate camp checkers
Tools like gatecamp.space check a route for recent kills. ARGUS does the same on the map, recognises camps by itself, routes around them and alerts you on the way.
zKillboard
The killboard of record – ARGUS gets its live kills from zKillboard and links every loss there. On top it shows where kills cluster, battle reports and the threat of the pilots in local.
What only ARGUS puts in one view
- A live 3D (and 2D) map with kills, camps, traffic and sovereignty
- Route planner with high-sec gank risk per cargo value
- Capital jump planner with fatigue, war targets and blue landings
- Ansiblex network found by itself and shared with the alliance
- D-scan and local with threat rating, alerts via push and Discord
Questions
Is ARGUS a Dotlan alternative?
For live intel, routes and capital jumps, yes; for long-term statistics and alliance history, Dotlan remains the reference. Many pilots use both.
Is ARGUS related to other tools called Argus?
No. ARGUS at eve-argus.app is a live map for EVE Online; it is not a multiboxing or window-management tool.
What does ARGUS cost?
Nothing. It is a free, non-commercial fan project under CCP’s developer license.
Tools
- EVE Online route planner that sees the danger – Shortest, safest or around trouble: ARGUS plans stargate routes on top of live kills, recognised gate camps and thirty days of hauler ganks – and sends the whole route to your game client.
- Jump planner for capitals and jump freighters – Like Dotlan’s jump planner – fewest jumps, then the shortest distance – plus what is going on at every landing: live kills, camps, war targets and your alliance’s own and blue structures.
- Gate camp check – live, on the map – Is the next gate camped? ARGUS watches every kill as it happens, recognises camps and fights by themselves and shows them on the map, in the route planner and as alerts.
- EVE Online sov map, live – Every alliance’s space as a coloured nebula over the real star cluster – or flat from above like the in-game map. With sov hub timers, campaigns, kills and traffic live on top.
- Ansiblex jump bridges on the map and in your routes – ARGUS finds every Ansiblex your character may use, shares the network with your alliance and routes through it – your own gates and those of your blues.
- D-scan and local scanner with threat rating – Copy the D-scan or the local member list in game and press Ctrl+V on the map. ARGUS tells you what is out there – and who is dangerous.
